I’m John, a compiler and database engineer based in Seattle, WA.
I work at Amazon on PartiQL, an open-source query language for heterogeneous and semi-structured data. Most recently I’ve been building PartiQLVM, a register-based bytecode virtual machine in Rust, and previously led the v1.0.0 release of the JVM implementation.
Outside of work I’m usually doing something seasonal — backpacking or biking when it’s dry, skiing when it isn’t, and building things in the garage year-round.
